A micro-credential is a targeted certification that allows you to gain specialized skills or knowledge in a specific area without committing to a full degree program. Offered by Tufts University College, these concise programs focus on in-demand competencies, making them ideal for professionals looking to enhance their expertise, pursue a career shift, or stay current in their field.
Offered Micro-Credentials can be completed in a few weeks to a few months, depending on the course structure, the learner's pace and the expected timeframe of the program. Each Micro registration page will list the estimated timeframe of completion prior to your enrollment.
Yes, learners can enroll in multiple courses simultaneously, provided the time allocated for each course is managed.
Costs vary depending on the course type and the length of the course. Specific pricing details are available on the course listing page, and multiple micro-credentials can be added to your cart during registration.

Micro-Credentials and Non-Credit Workshops are designed to provide specialized skills and professional development opportunities. These offerings are not eligible for academic credit and cannot be applied toward degree requirements. They serve as supplementary learning experiences to enhance personal or professional growth, and will not be available on academic transcripts.
How to Access my Course in Canvas
- Log In to Canvas:
- 24 hours after completing your registration, you will receive an email to log in to your Canvas account.
- Visit the Canvas login page here
- Enter your username and password, then click Guest Login.
- Navigate to Your Dashboard:
- Once logged in, you will be directed to your Canvas Dashboard.
- Here, you will see a list of all your enrolled courses.
- Select Your Micro-Credential Course:
- Locate the Micro-Credential course from your Dashboard.
- Click on the course name to enter the course page.
- Explore the Course Content:
- Once inside the course, you'll find a variety of resources, including:
- Announcements: Important updates from your instructor.
- Modules: Organized sections containing lectures, readings, assignments, and quizzes.
- Discussions: Forums for interacting with fellow learners and instructors.
- Grades: View your progress and feedback on assignments.

- Begin by reviewing the course syllabus and introductory materials.
- Follow the course modules in sequence, completing assignments as required.
- Receive Your Certificate:
- After completing the course requirements, you will be issued a digital badge and certificate. This will be emailed to you at the end of each semester session.
Should you need help with finding course materials in Canvas, use the Help button in Canvas to access support resources, including FAQs, tutorials, or contact your instructor directly. If you encounter problems with your registration or access to the course, please email workforce@tufts.edu
After completing the course requirements, you will be issued a digital badge and certificate. In most cases, you will receive your digital badge and certificate within 48 hours of completing the course. For micro-credentials that have an in-person activity or component, the delivery of the awarded material may take slightly longer.
How to Download and Share my Earned Credential
- Log In to Tufts Canvas Credentials:
- Visit the Canvas Credentials login page and enter your credentials to log in (please not this is NOT the same login as your Tufts or Canvas LMS login).
- Here, you will be able to view your completed Badges in your Backpack
- View Your Achievements:
- Once in Canvas Credentials, you will see a list of your earned badges and certificates.
- Select the badge or certificate related to your completed Micro-Credential course.
- Download or Share Your Badge/Certificate (step by step visual guide):
- Click on your badge or certificate to open the detailed view.
- From here, you can:
- Download your digital badge or certificate as a file.
- Share your achievement on social media or add it to your LinkedIn profile by following the sharing options provided.
