    Get Prepared for Your Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) Program

    Tufts Department of Rehabilitation Sciences in partnership with Tufts University College offers you the Accelerated Development of Excellence in Physical Therapy (ADEPT) Program, a pre-entrance opportunity to develop key study and success skills to prepare for the rigors of an accelerated DPT program. This 12-week online certificate is designed to support students interested in pursuing a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree and, with the personalized support of dedicated advisors and peer mentors, enhance your academic outcomes, including degree completion and performance on the NPTE exam.

    Evidence-Based Learning Strategies

    • Students will learn effective study strategies to help them excel academically, including Bloom's Taxonomy, test taking strategies and utilizing technology to assist with studying.
    • Students will holistically identify barriers to success and form community. 
    2

    Self-Care and Well Being Strategies to Succeed in Hybrid, Accelerated PT School

    • Students will learn management of time, stress, wellness, student-life balance; mindfulness; and strategies for building resilience and beating burnout.

    Study Skills and DPT Content

    • Students will learn essential foundational academic content in the following courses to help prepare them for a physical therapy program: Anatomy, Physiology, Movement Science, and Neuroscience.
    6

    Study Skills and Midterm Exam

    • Students will learn essential study skills and test-taking strategies.
    • Students will be administered a midterm exam in each content area: Anatomy, Physiology, Movement Science, and Neuroscience.

    Study Skills and DPT Content

    • Students will learn essential foundational academic content in the following courses to help prepare them for a physical therapy program: Anatomy, Physiology, Movement Science, and Neuroscience.

    • Students will learn essential strategies for managing test anxiety and planning/preparing for final exams.

    Final Exams

    • Students will be administered a final exam in each content area: Anatomy, Physiology, Movement Science, and Neuroscience.
     

    Throughout the 12-week Program:

    • Mentorship from current Tufts DPT students and PT clinicians
      • Students will engage in mentorship.
    • Community building activities with ADEPT peers
      • Students will form community with fellow ADEPT classmates.

    Earn Your DPT Degree at Tufts

    Successful completion of the ADEPT program guarantees students an interview for Tufts University School of Medicine's Doctor of Physical Therapy programs in Boston, Phoenix, or Seattle. Students admitted to one of these programs will also receive a $1,000 tuition discount in their final year upon completion.
