Tufts Summer Accelerator
The Tufts Summer Accelerator is designed to provide students with a chance to immerse themselves in the undergraduate experience, allowing highly motivated students to engage in their own academic interests and develop their own ideas. Students enroll in two college-level seminars per two-week session, designed specifically for high school students. These seminars are small (15-20 students), discussion-based, interactive sessions in subject areas from across the University.
Choose from a variety of seminar topics including Social Psychology of Prejudice, Discrimination, and Racism, Russia's war on Ukraine: why, why now, and what's next..., Introduction to Children's Media, Art, Truth, and Misinformation, and many more.
Meet Our Pre-College Program Leads
Sinet Kroch, Program Lead
Sinet Kroch is the new Program Coordinator for Environmental Studies. She is a first-generation college student from Bucknell University, where she received a BA in Environmental Studies and Women's Studies. Before joining Tufts University, she worked as a climate adaptation resident with the Nature Conservancy, Maine chapter, and the Maine Environmental Education Association (MEEA), where she collaborated with local communities to integrate nature climate solutions in their adaptation/resilient projects. Sinet will be the Program Lead for the Climate Resilience Institute, and she cannot wait to work with the CRI students this Summer.
Sinet was born and raised in Siem Reap, Cambodia. She loves cooking, hiking, gardening, and binge-watching Asian dramas. She is very excited to work for Tufts!
Frank Roche, Program Lead
Leadership for Social Change Session July 20-August 1
Frank Roche is a Program Administrator at Tufts’ Tisch College of Civic Life. In this role, he directs the second session of Leadership for Social Change and serves as the Civic Life Administrator for Athletics during the academic year. Frank serves as a connection and point person between Tufts Athletics, Tisch College, and community organizations with an emphasis on building Civic Identity, Leadership, and Agency. Frank has instituted the Civic Life Ambassador Program for varsity student-athletes which provides civic leadership growth opportunities for representatives from each Tufts athletic team. Frank was a Jumbo football player and graduated from Tufts in 2019, then received his MAT in 2020. Prior to Tufts, Frank taught ELA and Special Education at Revere High School and now is the head football coach at Arlington High School. A native of Arlington, MA. Frank has a deep connection to Tufts and the Greater Boston community. He hopes to be a valuable resource for coaches, players, and community partners so that civic engagement opportunities in Tufts Athletics are accessible, organized, and impactful.
Daniela Sanchez, Program Lead
Leadership for Social Change Session July 6-18
Daniela Sanchez is a Senior Program Coordinator at Tufts’ Tisch College of Civic Life. In this role, Daniela directs the first session of Leadership for Social Change and supports student programs and student groups affiliated with Tisch College. She also collaborates closely with the communications team to promote student programs. Before rejoining Tisch College, Daniela worked at the Latin American & Iberian Institute at the University of New Mexico as the Communications and Outreach Specialist. She is a Tufts graduate with a B.A. in Latin American Studies and Spanish, as well as a M.A. in Devised Theatre and Performance from Rose Bruford College. Daniela is passionate about using theater as a tool for individual and systemic healing. She loves New Mexico (her home state), running, and clowns!
Phoebe Sargeant, Program Lead
Phoebe Sargeant is the director of the Pre-College International Relations Intensive Program. She also works as a history teacher for a local high school. Phoebe also attended Tufts University, where she received her BA in History in 2021 and her Masters in the Arts of Teaching for High School History education in 2022. While attending Tufts University, Phoebe participated in the Laidlaw Scholars Program where she completed research on the historical memory of the American Revolution. This research was later published as Phoebe’s senior thesis and investigated the origins and propagation of myths of the American Revolution and its connection to 20th century curricula. For the past seven years, Phoebe has also worked for the Freedom Trail Foundation, where she leads tours of the Boston Freedom Trail, portraying historical figure Margaret Kemble Gage. Outside of work, Phoebe enjoys playing her cello, visiting museums with her husband, and rewatching The Xfiles.
