Policies
Tufts OLLI Policies
All members of Tufts’ Osher Lifelong Learning Program are responsible for reviewing and understanding all of the below policies applicable to them. Please email us at osherlli@tufts.edu if you have any questions about the policies or their applicability to you. Note that all policies are subject to change without notice. Last updated June 23, 2025.
Accessibility
The OLLI at Tufts does not discriminate on the basis of disability in admission, access to, or operation of our program. If you have a disability and need auxiliary aids or services, please call us at 617-627-5699 at least two weeks before your class begins.
Add/Drop Period
Each offering lists and “Add/ Drop” period in which members may make any changes to their registration plans. The add/drop period for all OLLI courses begins the first day registration opens and closes the Monday before the start of the seasonal term (approximately 4 business days before the start of the seasonal term with the exception of any federal/school holidays). Beyond the Add/ Drop period, please see the Late Registration and Withdrawal policies below for information about how to manage these changes.
Annual Membership
The Tufts OLLI program is a membership based program, and a membership fee does apply. The membership year runs annually from July 1 - June 30. Tufts OLLI membership expires annually on June 30. New memberships will be available for purchase on July 1. A membership is required to take part in all aspects of the Tufts OLLI program and access the membership benefits unless otherwise indicated.
Class Cancellation
Should a course / program be canceled, members are eligible for a full refund of the fees. No notification of withdrawal is required if a class is canceled by OLLI; your refund will be automatically processed to its original form of payment. If an individual session needs to be canceled due to instructor illness or other unplanned reasons, we do our best to schedule a makeup session. Please note that the transition of a course from an in-person format to an online virtual campus format does not qualify as a course cancellation. On-campus courses that are transitioned to the online virtual campus will be adapted to offer the same quality, content and outcome as if they had been offered in-person. If a course needs to be shortened due to any circumstances, a partial refund will be automatically processed to its original form of payment.
Closed Captioning
Effective June 30, 2022, all newly created, or newly posted video/audio files must have closed captions. Additionally, all synchronous courses and meetings using the zoom, google or other platforms with a built-in captioning feature must enable captioning. Instructors are encouraged to look for captioned videos and audio files with transcripts before making final selection of course materials. Instructors should use the built-in accessibility tools available to them for content production regardless of the modality of the course. Please review the full Tuft’s Captioning Policy here.
COVID-19 Compliance
Tufts OLLI follows all COVID-19 and other public health directives as decided by Tufts University and found here.
Fair Use Policy
Please see here for the Fair Use Policy/ Tufts University Guidelines to Instructors for Copying and Distributing Copyrighted Materials.
Financial Aid
Financial aid is available to those members who provide documentation that their annual income is less than the median income of the city/town in which they reside. This financial aid will include waiving the base membership fee of $75 and 50% off all courses in which they choose to register. Please reach out to the Tufts OLLI Office, osherlli@tufts.edu with any questions or for more information.
Late Registration
If you wish to register for a class after the add/drop period outlined below, please contact the OLLI Offices at Osherlli@tufts.edu to coordinate a time to register (if space is still available).

We reserve the right to photograph or videotape participants and registrants during our programs. By participating in our programs, each participant/registrant agrees that we may, for no compensation, (I) photograph or videotape such participant/registrant; and (ii) reproduce, distribute, display, use or publish such photographs or video images and likeness, with or without such participant/registrant’s name, by any method for any lawful purpose, including for example, such purposes as educational programs, publicity, illustration, recruitment, fundraising, advertising and Web content. Such photographs or video images shall be the exclusive property of the University.

Tufts OLLI Community Standards and Guidelines for Participation
A social community is not just a group of individuals with shared interests; it's a vibrant space that fosters connection, support, curiosity, and collaboration. The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) at Tufts University is a strong community of older learners that is also an important part of the Tufts University community, which is comprised of students and educators of all ages.
Tufts OLLI strives to create an environment that focuses on the following:
- Respect & Kindness: Treat everyone with dignity and respect.
- Constructive Dialogue: Encourage passionate discussions but respect differing views without personal attacks.
- Zero Tolerance for Disrespect: Offensive language, discrimination, or disruptive behaviors are not allowed, and violators may face consequences.
- Inclusive Learning: Provide a welcoming environment where diverse perspectives are valued and ensure a conducive environment for academic and personal development.
All members of the Tufts OLLI community (paid members, course leaders, guest speakers, etc.) will be held accountable to these standards and guidelines. The Program Director, Osher Lifelong Learning Institute, will handle any infractions. Violations may result in discontinuation of participation in the program.
Upgrading Between Membership Tiers
Individuals will be able to upgrade to all membership tiers except Gold during the membership year. The new benefits associated with the upgraded tier cannot be retroactively applied during the membership year, i.e. if someone upgrades to a Silver membership during the membership year, any courses already taken will not be refunded to count as the ‘free courses’ associated with this membership tier.
Withdrawals
A member may withdraw from a course through the Add/Drop period outlined above. Any refund requests follow the refund policy below.
