About

The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at Tufts University was originally founded in 2000 as the Tufts Institute for Learning in Retirement (TILR). In 2003, to reflect the institute's interest in participants near retirement, as well as those already retired, the name was changed to the Tufts Institute for Lifelong Learning (TILL).

In 2005, following receipt of a naming grant from the Bernard Osher Foundation, the Institute became the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at Tufts University (OLLI).

In 2019, OLLI was restructured within Tufts to be part of the newly formed University College, a school dedicated to serving people at all points in their educational journey.

Mission:

The Tufts University Osher Lifelong Learning Institute seeks to engage the minds and foster the well being of intellectually curious adult learners, over 50 years of age, through a wide variety of membership engagement opportunities.

Vision and Guiding Principles:

We will provide high quality interactive learning and community engagement opportunities offered in person and virtually, including:

• Interactive peer driven courses will be offered on diverse subjects in a welcoming environment, led by Tufts OLLI members, Tufts community members, and interested outside partners
• Virtual offerings will continue to be offered to allow interactions with members locally, nationally, and globally
• Member organized opportunities like Lunch and Learn Presentations and Edventure Special Interest Clubs

We will continue to embrace new technologies.

We will work to ensure long-term success and viability of the program by effective stewardship of our resources.

We will seek opportunities to engage in the larger Tufts community.
