Osher Lifelong Learning Institute Policies

Add/Drop Period

Each offering lists and “Add/ Drop” period in which members may make any changes to their registration plans. The add/drop period for all OLLI courses begins the first day registration opens and closes four days prior to the start of the seasonal term. Beyond the Add/ Drop period, please see the Late Registration and Withdrawal policies below for information about how to manage these changes.

Late Registration

If you wish to register for a class after the add/drop period outlined below, please contact the OLLI Offices at Osherlli@tufts.edu to coordinate a time to register (if space is still available).

Withdrawals

A member may withdraw from a course through the Add/Drop period outlined above. Any refund requests follow the refund policy below.

Refunds

The fees for OLLI classes are fully refundable up until the start time of the 2nd class. After the start time of the second class, no refund will be available. To request a refund, please contact our office at osherlli@tufts.edu. All refunds will be automatically credited to your payment method.

Class Cancellation

Should a course / program be canceled, members are eligible for a full refund of the fees. No notification of withdrawal is required if a class is canceled by OLLI; your refund will be automatically processed to its original form of payment. If an individual session needs to be canceled due to instructor illness or other unplanned reasons, we do our best to schedule a makeup session. Please note that the transition of a course from an in-person format to an online virtual campus format does not qualify as a course cancellation. On-campus courses that are transitioned to the online virtual campus will be adapted to offer the same quality, content and outcome as if they had been offered in-person.

Single Registration Policy

All classes and events offered by Tufts OLLI are open to OLLI members only unless otherwise arranged or stated on event materials. We understand that there may be more than one member living in a residence and sharing a computer for a virtual offering. In these instances, we ask that each member individually registers for events, study groups, etc

Recording

The recording of all virtual and hybrid offerings is allowable unless otherwise arranged/indicated. The automated Zoom announcement of the recording is considered official consent of the recording by all parties.

COVID-19 Compliance

Those OLLI Members attending classes in-person on Tufts Somerville/Medford Campus are required to be vaccinated and boosted, have proof of vaccination available to be shown upon request when visiting campus, and complete a supplied COVID-19 attestation form the first day of in-person classes (Friday, September 16, 2022 for the Fall 2022 term). Tufts OLLI will be following all Tufts COVID-19 protocols throughout the term. Those policies can be found here. Any changes affecting OLLI Members will be communicated via the Tufts OLLI Offices.

Fair Use Policy

Please see here for the Fair Use Policy/ Tufts University Guidelines to Instructors for Copying and Distributing Copyrighted Materials.

Closed Captioning

Effective June 30, 2022, all newly created, or newly posted video/audio files must have closed captions. Additionally, all synchronous courses and meetings using the zoom, google or other platforms with a built-in captioning feature must enable captioning. Instructors are encouraged to look for captioned videos and audio files with transcripts before making final selection of course materials. Instructors should use the built-in accessibility tools available to them for content production regardless of the modality of the course. Please review the full Tuft’s Captioning Policy here.

Photography

We reserve the right to photograph or videotape participants and registrants during our programs. By participating in our programs, each participant/registrant agrees that we may, for no compensation, (I) photograph or videotape such participant/registrant; and (ii) reproduce, distribute, display, use or publish such photographs or video images and likeness, with or without such participant/registrant’s name, by any method for any lawful purpose, including for example, such purposes as educational programs, publicity, illustration, recruitment, fundraising, advertising and Web content. Such photographs or video images shall be the exclusive property of the University.

The OLLI at Tufts does not discriminate on the basis of disability in admission, access to, or operation of our program. If you have a disability and need auxiliary aids or services, please call us at 617-627-5699 at least one week before your class begins.
