Pre-College Intensive Programs

This summer, choose from a variety of new and returning college style programs. Designed especially for high school students - each of these 1-3 week programs combine relevant topics and rigorous college-level study taught by renowned Tufts Faculty.

Join Tufts Pre-College this summer and choose from 1, 2, or 3 week intensive programs on a content area of your choosing. Whether you are a student looking to learn more about a new field before entering college, or you have a passion for a certain area of study that you want to dig into before making a commitment to a career, we have an option for you!

Tufts Summer Accelerator

Immerse yourself in life as a college student, while studying at Tufts University!  Enroll in 2 college-level seminars, designed specifically for high school students, and gain experience with the excitement, freedom, and challenge of academics at a top-tier higher education institution. Students may enroll in 1 or 2 two-week sessions.

SMFA Graphic Design Certificate Bootcamp

July 29 – August 2, 2024

Explore the exciting field of graphic design with the School of the Museum of Fine Arts at Tufts University faculty, staff and students. With this fully online course, we make it easy to spend one week this summer diving into the Adobe Creative Cloud software tools, hearing from professional graphic designers, and exploring the intersection of art, technology, and design. 

Entrepreneurship & Innovation Bootcamp

The Tufts Entrepreneurship and Innovation Bootcamp is a two-week-long immersive experience for high school students interested in learning how to solve big societal problems through new venture creation. This bootcamp is an in-person, synchronous experiential learning experience open to students all over the world. No prior entrepreneurial experience is necessary – all that’s needed is a drive to make a difference and have impact in the world.  

Marketing Essentials

Tufts Essentials of Marketing for a Changing World is a two-week immersive experience for high school students interested in learning marketing concepts and strategy that they can apply to their own lives and future careers. The skills of marketing touch upon several business and professional domains and can be applied across a range of contexts

Mini Med School: Clinical Experiences

Think you want to be a doctor? This summer intensive provides driven students who are interested in medical school (or in other health professions) the opportunity to study with one of the nation's leading medical schools - Tufts University School of Medicine.

Through lectures and medical case studies coupled with hands-on training, students will begin to experience what it takes to study medical sciences.

Field trips to the Tufts Medical campus will include visits to the Clinical Skills and Simulation Center and exercises highlighting the latest in surgical techniques. In-person question and answer sessions with admissions staff, medical doctors, doctors from other health professions, and medical students will help participants get a feel for Medical School and the career options they have in Medicine and related health sciences.

Coding Academy

What does the future of coding look like, and how can you contribute? You'll find out in this exciting summer program, which is open to students of all skill levels. Solve real-world problems in hands-on coding and skills building sessions, hear exciting guest lectures from experts in the field, and collaborate with your team on a final coding project. This is an ideal opportunity to hone in-demand programming skills while experiencing student life on the gorgeous Tufts campus. A fun, intellectually stimulating way to spend part of your summer!

SMFA Studio Art

Join our community of artists and makers and spend your summer building a portfolio of new and exciting artwork! In line with SMFA at Tufts’ approach to interdisciplinary art making, the Pre-College Studio Art Intensive allows you to work with new materials, deepen your experience with familiar mediums, and develop conceptually sophisticated work.

Pre-College Program: International Relations

This is your chance to analyze global issues with esteemed faculty from the Tufts School of Arts and Sciences and The Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy. Immerse yourself in intensive, college-level foreign language training while studying subjects such as international economics, cybersecurity, and foreign policy. Outside the classroom, join fellow students for social events, tours of area universities, and an international relations simulation at the Edward M. Kennedy Institute for the U.S. Senate.

Leadership for Social Change: Virtual Classes For High School Students

If you're passionate about making a difference in the world and your community, this program is for you. Hosted by the Jonathan M. Tisch College of Civic Life at Tufts, the program will equip you with the leadership skills and civic knowledge to build connections, work collaboratively, and be a change agent who can inspire others. Explore areas such as public policy, environmental studies, and social entrepreneurship. Plus, engage with and learn from Tufts faculty and community leaders who are making their mark in the civic realm.

Climate Resilience Institute

July 21 – August 2, 2024

Students will apply an interdisciplinary case-study approach to the social, ecological, and political facets of contemporary environmental issues; learn the principles and key concepts of environmental change and resilience from experts in many fields; and gain hands-on knowledge of techniques for environmental data collection, analysis and visualization.

Engineering Design Lab

Session 1: July 7 – 19, 2024

Engineering design is the practical application of the science and theory of engineering to the needs of the real world. In this program, you'll examine the "how" and "why" of engineering problems and projects—the best way to understand how engineering actually works. Take part in team-based projects in our new state-of-the-art maker space. Plus, hear from expert faculty and guest speakers who are leaders in their fields, make new friends, and experience life on and off the Tufts campus.
