A Letter from Dean Joseph Auner
As the founding Dean of Tufts’ newest school, I invite you to explore all that University College has to offer. Whether you are a working professional, a visiting student seeking to further your education through undergraduate and graduate courses and workshops, a Pre-College student looking for new challenges, or a lifelong learner seeking intellectual enrichment or the chance to retool your career, University College and its Tufts for Life vision has something for you.
University College is shaped by a deep commitment to preserving and strengthening the values, identity, and mission of Tufts University. We are also dedicated to unlocking the potential of university-wide collaboration and exploring what is possible working across Tufts' unique constellation of schools and departments. Supporting all our efforts, the University College Faculty, with its distinguished representatives from every school, provides guidance and oversight. Tufts' commitment to becoming an anti-racist institution is reflected in our efforts to expand accessibility through financial aid and discounts for some programs, and inclusive and socially-engaged curricular design for our programs.
University College’s offerings reach thousands of students each year. Our Pre-College Programs, which include summer and year-round offerings, have been created in partnership with the Medical School, Engineering, Arts and Sciences, the Friedman School of Nutrition, and the Tisch College of Civic Life, and involve faculty and staff from across the university. University College’s Professional and Continuing Education unit operates Courses at Tufts, one of the first university-wide academic programs, which enrolls visiting students throughout the year in a course list representing almost every school and department at Tufts. It also operates the Summer Session and Winter Term, with courses and workshops for matriculated and visiting students, as well as Continuing Education at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, with studio art classes and certificates. Our Osher Lifelong Learning Institute, provides high quality educational experiences for working and retired adults, both enriching their lives and equipping them with the tools for professional development and personal satisfaction.
Through all our offerings, University College’s goal is to build life-long connections to students wherever they are on their educational journey, supported by on-going interactions and resources for a lifetime of learning. We invite you to browse our courses and programs and to be in touch to find out more.
