Course Description

This course is a supervised field experience involving teaching experience and training in working with children and families. The field experience provides opportunities for an in depth understanding of young children, teaching and learning, high quality mentoring, and developing individualized professional styles in early education and care. Both the seminars and the field experience draw from various theories, approaches and developmentally/culturally appropriate practices. Interns will participate in bi-weekly seminar sessions designed to enhance the fieldwork experience. The seminars will cover individual and group reflections from applied experiences, textbook, and other relevant topics and readings in child development and early childhood education. 10 hours/week fieldwork plus seminar meets for 2 hours bi-weekly.

Basic Enrollment Requirements: Unofficial Transcript – Bachelor’s Degree or progress towards a Bachelor’s Degree + 3.0 GPA; Required: Department Consent

Instructor Approval: Not required

Remission Eligible: Yes; first day of term; all university policies apply

Refund Policy: For-Credit 3+ Weeks
