Course Description

An in-depth investigation of the Surrealist movement in France through the study of plays (Ionesco), poems (Breton, Eluard, Desnos, Queneau, Mansour, Prevert), prose narratives (Breton), and films (Bunuel). A variety of texts, films, and plays will be studied for their literary as well as social, cultural, and psychological significance. Prerequisite: French 31 and 32, or consent.
