Course Description
In this workshop, participants will experiment with a multitude of stop motion animation methods and materials, including: claymation, paper cut outs, object animation, sand animation, pixilation, and site-responsive/outdoor stop motion animation. The workshop will cover the basics of making an animated stop motion short with sound. This course will focus on moving image ideas and techniques through an experimental lens.
The software and technical components of the class include: Dragon frame stop motion software, sound recording with Zoom h4n recorders, video editing and sound design in Premiere Pro, photo sequence capture on DSLRs and cell phones, and compositing in After Effects. No Animation experience is required for this course, but creatives of all kinds are welcome! The course encourages the integration of other art mediums with stop motion animation.
