Course Description
Intersection of child development and social policy. Case studies of processes through which social problems are defined, policies formulated and implemented. Models for analyzing existing and proposed policies and for interpreting program evaluation results. Topics may include child abuse and neglect, family leave, maternal and child public-health policy, child care, early-childhood education. Special attention to policies affecting disadvantaged and minority populations.Upper level of dual-level course with expanded readings and more advanced assignments.Recommendations: CSHD 1 or PSY 1.
