Course Description
Intermediate level course on the development of self and identity from infancy through young adulthood. Development-in-Context approach is used, with emphasis on how individuals negotiate their place and position in local, national, and global communities. Topics may include theories of self and identity development; dimensions of self; domains of personal and social identity development (e.g., religious, ethnic, racial, national, gender); social processes and contexts of identity development; identity integration; narrative construction of self and identity; and clinical and therapeutic applications of narratives of self and identity.
Basic Enrollment Requirements: Unofficial Transcript – High School Diploma or current high school transcript (for high school students only in applicable classes), Bachelor’s Degree, or progress towards a Bachelor’s Degree + 3.0 GPA.
