Course Description

Publication Design builds on the foundations laid in Typography: Introduction and Graphic Design: Beginner to expand our understanding of the interplay between text and image within a series of designs. In projects of increasing scope and complexity, we will design books, magazines, and catalogs, while exploring each format’s communicative and expressive potential and considering the historical and technological factors that have shaped page design. This course also presents an opportunity to refine the typographic skills that designers in all media rely on. All projects will be developed in Adobe InDesign and prior experience with the program is useful, but not required. Level: intermediate to advanced. Prerequisites: Typography: Introduction, Graphic Design: Beginner, or by instructor approval.

Basic Enrollment Requirements: None.
