Course Description

Join us for a one-day intensive workshop focused on creating (the enduring) human image. This workshop is tailored to the individual regarding materials and personal sensibilities. Students can opt to work with materials of choice: charcoal, pencil, pastels, etc.; water-based paint such as gouache, acrylic; or oils, but should also be open to experiment with combining materials; paint into drawing or draw into paint, etc. Usage of a variety of surfaces will also be discussed.

We will begin with short poses in order to explore the essential gestural response, as well as the long pose – to be able to rework and consider possibilities as the portrait develops.

Considerations beyond the face: we will explore possibilities designing space surrounding the image as well as other parts of the portrait such as hands, etc.

Basic Enrollment Requirements: High School students will be prompted to submit required consent forms.

Instructor Approval: Not Required.

Remission Eligible: Not Eligible.

Refund Policy: Workshops Policy 1
