An introductory course open to all interested students who want practice and instruction in playwriting in a workshop situation. Emphasis on experimentation and process, with weekly assignments and in-class exercises designed to encourage students to write both visually and concretely. Attention to character development, narrative structure, and a play's arc through its begininng, turning point, and ending. Special focus on such elements of craft as revealing action, the power of the unspoken word, and disrupted ritual.
