Perspectives Amer Poetry
American poetry in the context of Buddhist (and some deconstructionist) ideas. Poets from the American tradition (e.g., Walt Whitman, Emily Dickinson, Wallace Stevens) along with contemporary American Buddhist writers such as Allen Ginsberg, Gary Snyder, etc. Careful reading of Shunryu Suzuki's classic text, Zen Mind, Beginner's Mind. Some consideration of Buddhist ideas in contemporary visual arts and music.
