Course Description

(Cross-listed as ENV 164.) An intermediate-level introduction to the biology of marine organisms. Detailed survey of major marine animal and plant groups; food web dynamics; physiological and ecological adaptations to key marine habitats, including the deep sea, coral reefs, estuaries, and the intertidal zone. The impact of global warming, ocean acidification, and overfishing on marine communities and fisheries. Prerequisites: Biology 13 and 14, or equivalent. (Group C.)
