Course Description

In this workshop students will expand their observational drawing skills learning how to accurately depict the human figure/nude through brief lectures, demos, individual and group critiques. Working from the “INSIDE/OUT,” session 1 will cover the basics of human anatomy starting with the skeletal and moving to the muscular systems, emphasizing structural landmarks. Session 2 will focus on applying this knowledge by simplifying light and shadow to create shapes that will allow you to build the observed nude with greater accuracy, as well as achieve a likeness through discussions of portraiture and the figure in space. All of which will be covered through short and long poses with both male and female model(s). Basic drawing experience is recommended.
