The Emerging Global Health Crisis: COVID-19
The principal focus of CEE 59 in the summer of 2020 will be on an examination of the global reach of COVID-19. The course will place it within a context of other emerging and re-emerging diseases such as HIV/AIDS, SARS, measles, avian flu and review how they are transmitted and distributed. Find out why the control of this unfolding pandemic requires not only solid science but also effective public health policy. As an epidemiologist and former state public health official I am appalled by the power of COVID-19 and also deeply troubled by the social and structural inequities that are laid bare by its spread. Come join our exploration of understanding and discussing how COVID-19 is shaping both our present and coming future.
