Ecological Stats & Data w/Lab
Probability and likelihood, fitting simple statistical models to data, and using these models to make predictions. Examples come from ecology, emphasis on monitoring plant and animal populations and forecasting how these populations will respond to changing environments. Includes use of discrete probability distributions (binomial and Poisson), building mixed and compounded probability distributions, an introduction to Bayesian statistics, and use of the open-source statistics program, R. (Group C or Q). Students should have a good working knowledge of high school algebra and an interest in ecology.
