Course Description

Immerse yourself in the Hispanic world through literature, visual arts, film, music, and more in this advanced Spanish language course! 

You will engage in critical reflection on the representation of gender, race, and social issues within the context of the contemporary Hispanic world, addressing topics in both Latin America and Spain. As you progress in your Spanish language proficiency, this course aims to shed light on global issues and challenge society’s hierarchical power structures.

Designed to foster critical thinking and understanding of cultural differences, this course encourages students to compare and contrast these differences. The goal is to improve students’ oral and written proficiency in Spanish through a communicative approach. Please note, the course is conducted in Spanish and attendance is required. The prerequisite for SPN 22BX is Spanish 21 or permission from the instructor.

Basic Enrollment Requirements: Unofficial Transcript – High School Diploma or current high school transcript (for high school students only in applicable classes), Bachelor’s Degree, or progress towards a Bachelor’s Degree + 3.0 GPA.
