Course Description

Introduction to bioinformatics as a tool for gaining insight into biological systems and processes. Includes coverage of molecular biology and genetics laboratory techniques, next-generation DNA sequencing, and advanced computer technology to gather and analyze large-scale genomic data. Interactions with faculty and graduate students in a range of activities from transforming bacteria to performing polymerase chain reactions (PCR) and sequencing DNA.

Basic Enrollment Requirements: High School students will be prompted to submit an additional application after enrollment including: a high school transcript, letter of recommendation, parental permission, and other required consent forms.
