Course Description
Variety of musical expressions including the traditional, neo-traditional, and contemporary mass mediated popular music (Afro-Pop/Afrobeats). Social context of the music process, music and historical narratives, music and religious ritual, court music traditions, contemporary issues in Afro-Pop, and various aspects of performance practices. Hands-on activities, guest speakers/artists, and audio-visual recordings.
Basic Enrollment Requirements: Unofficial Transcript – High School Diploma or current high school transcript (for high school students only in applicable classes), Bachelor’s Degree, or progress towards a Bachelor’s Degree + 3.0 GPA.
