Tufts Summit is a four week academic enrichment program for rising high school juniors and seniors that takes place at the Tufts European Center in Talloires, France. The Tufts Summit Program offers students two courses: “International Relations in a Changing World,” a college-level class that looks at the complex world of international politics and diplomacy, and “La Langue et la Culture Française” an intensively interactive course on French language and culture that emphasizes listening comprehension and speaking as well as daily French usage, expressions and pronunciation. Day trips to international organizations in Geneva, Switzerland and cultural sites in Lyon, as well as excursions into the Alpine countryside enable students to gain an insider’s view of a world most know only from books and newspapers. Students live with carefully selected host families, most often with another student. The home stay is an integral and memorable part of the Tufts Summit experience and results not only in improved language skills, but also enduring friendships with French host families.
Eligibility: Rising high school juniors or seniors, minimum two years of formal French instruction
