Summer Abroad Programs
In view of the ongoing global health crisis, we at Tufts have cancelled our Tufts in Talloires Program (May 12 - June 26, 2020), as well as our Pavia, Italy Program (June 17 - July 25, 2020). Please continue to check with us on this website regularly as changes to programs and schedules are decided. No decision has been made yet regarding the July programs in France. For more information regarding our France travel, visit us at the European Center website. And for all other student abroad travel questions, please visit at the Tufts Global Education website.
All students interested in attending Summer Abroad programs (both Tufts and Visiting students) must submit an application. The application deadline, payment deadlines, tuition & fees, and eligibility requirements differ by program. Please see the program descriptions below and the Summer Abroad Tuition & Fees page for the complete list of applicable fees.
Tufts in Talloires
Tufts in Talloires is a six-week academic summer program that takes place at the Tufts European Center in Talloires, France. Students enrolled in the Tufts in Talloires Program choose two courses from a selection of Tufts credit-bearing undergraduate offerings, all taught at the Tufts European Center by Tufts' own faculty. French is not required as all courses are taught in English. Courses are designed to take advantage of Talloires' ideal location in the center of Europe, as well as its striking alpine setting, which inspires reflection and thought.
Tufts Summit in Talloires
Broaden your understanding of the complex world of international relations through four weeks at the Tufts European Center in Talloires, France. Immerse yourself in the French language and culture through a home stay with a host family. Explore the rich political and cultural history of Europe with day trips to international organizations, historical sites, and the beautiful Alpine countryside.
Tufts in Annecy
The Tufts in Annecy Program offers college students and adults an opportunity to improve their beginner or intermediate French language skills while living in Annecy, France. Known as the "Venice of France," Annecy provides an inspiring backdrop for French language acquisition. Daily classes are taught at a French language institute in Annecy by native French speakers who are experts in developing speaking, listening, grammar, writing, and reading skills. Students are supported by a Tufts French Department faculty member to ensure that their work in Annecy is commensurate with Tufts expectations.
Tufts Spanish Language and Culture Program
This intensive language and culture program offers a 5½ week full immersion experience for students who wish to improve their Spanish language skills and be exposed to the rich cultural traditions of southern Spain. The program is designed for language students as well as language majors.
Summer 2020 for this program has been cancelled.
Data Science and Italian Program
Come study the language of the 21st century while also learning the most beautiful language of all, Italian. Tufts Global Education in cooperation with the School of Engineering and the Romance Languages Department designed a 5 ½ week program designed to provide students, especially Engineering students, the ability to immerse themselves in the wonderful culture of Italy while earning credits in Data and Computer Science. No background in Italian language is needed, only a keen interest to learn and explore Italy and its rich history and culture.
